Our
Commitment To The Environment
Petoskey
Plastics is at the forefront in the development of sustainable
manufacturing
processes
in an industry that is dependent on petroleum products.
The company is emphasizing its “closed loop recycling
systems” approach that diverts and recycles landfill-bound
plastic waste for use in its products.
Paul
Keiswetter, Petoskey Plastics' President and founder,
is an early post-consumer
plastic bag recycling innovator
and a staunch advocate of the “closed loop recycling
systems” approach. The concept is to divert landfill-bound
plastic waste from post-consumer use for reuse in our
products that are then returned to the consumer. Our
goal is to include recycled materials to the greatest
extent possible,
whenever possible, in our products. It’s good
for the environment, and it reduces cost.

Closing
the Loop in OEM – GM’s WE CARE Award
Our “closed
loop recycling systems” approach
that diverts and recycles landfill-bound plastic waste
for reuse in our products plays a key role in our customers’ efforts
to conserve resources. A perfect example of this approach
is General Motors’ Orion assembly plant. Last year,
workers at the plant collected and recycled 58,000 pounds
of plastic bags used by suppliers to wrap and protect parts.
The bags were baled and shipped to our recycling center,
where they were reused in the manufacturing of new products
destined for the Orion plant.
Thanks
in part to Petoskey Plastics, the Orion plant recently
received GM’s
WE CARE (Waste Elimination & Cost Awareness Rewards
Everyone) Award, recognizing its innovation in helping
to keep waste out of landfills.
